The Challenge

Five departments, five different patient populations, five clinical contexts with specific needs. Hematology, Oncology, Nephrology, Pediatric Onco-Hematology, and Pediatrics shared the same priority — to reduce anxiety, perceived pain, and emotional distress — but with patients ranging from adults on dialysis to children undergoing chemotherapy.

Five departments, five different patient populations, five clinical contexts with specific needs. Hematology, Oncology, Nephrology, Pediatric Onco-Hematology, and Pediatrics shared the same priority — to reduce anxiety, perceived pain, and emotional distress — but with patients ranging from adults on dialysis to children undergoing chemotherapy.

The Pisa University Hospital (AOU Pisana) was looking for a non-pharmacological approach to distress that did not require bespoke solutions for each department.

Our strategy

We built a multi-department program with a single operating model, tailoring immersive experiences to the specifics of each context. LEMO Park — a project dedicated to children — transforms the wait and the procedure into an immersive experience that reduces the need for restraint and improves the child's cooperation.
