Regina Margherita Children's Hospital

Reference pediatric hospital for Piedmont: therapeutic virtual reality active in Orthopedics, Surgery, Oncology, and Pediatric Hematology.

The Challenge

Orthopedics, Surgery, Oncology, Pediatric Hematology: departments with very different clinical needs, but with a shared priority reducing children's distress during procedures, treatments, and hospitalization. A child awaiting orthopedic surgery needs something different from a child undergoing chemotherapy or one in long-term hematology care.

Orthopedics, Surgery, Oncology, Pediatric Hematology: departments with very different clinical needs, but with a shared priority — reducing children's distress during procedures, treatments, and hospitalization. A child awaiting orthopedic surgery needs something different from a child undergoing chemotherapy or one in long-term hematology care.

The challenge was to find a single tool capable of addressing all of these contexts without requiring customized solutions for each one.

Our strategy

We have activated LEMO across the four departments with a uniform operating model, allowing staff the flexibility to choose the experience best suited for the child and the moment. Rabbit, Alien, and TelisBubble are selected based on age, emotional state, and clinical context.

The most immediate result: children ask for the headset even before entering the operating room.
