AOU Le Scotte in Siena adopts Lemons' therapeutic VR

After Careggi, the University Hospital of Siena is also incorporating immersive experiences in the Oncology and Pediatric Surgery departments.

University hospital

The Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria Le Scotte, one of Tuscany's leading healthcare centers, has chosen to officially adopt Lemons in the Room within its departments.

Two departments, one mission

The implementation involves two key clinical areas: Oncology and Pediatric Surgery. Two very different settings, but united by a shared need — reducing anxiety, stress, and the perception of pain during invasive procedures or long waits.

Why it matters

Le Scotte is a public reference facility for all of Southern Tuscany. Its adoption of a technology like therapeutic VR confirms that the humanization of care is no longer a "nice to have," but a clinical quality criterion.

Patients wear the headset during chemotherapy, dressing changes, blood draws, or post-operative wake-ups. The result: calmer procedures, shorter perceived wait times, less stressed healthcare staff.

What happens next

The service is already up and running. Over the next few months, we will gather structured feedback from the departments to keep improving the experience.
